Animal Haven is once again proud to partner with The Sato Project and The Humane Society of the United States to rescue dogs in high-risk areas of the world. Recently, we took in 14 puppies and adult dogs from Puerto Rico where the pet overpopulation problem is overwhelming. “These dogs were all saved from certain euthanasia because of age, medical issues or because of lack of space in an underfunded and overcrowded shelter system.” explains The Sato Project.

The entire rescue effort saved 205 dogs in one transport. Animal Haven is just one of multiple shelters along the East Cost that opened their doors to these dogs. Without an incredible amount of effort and teamwork, most of these pups would not have survived.

Some of the dogs have already found their new homes through us, but many are still waiting. Please come visit them at the shelter.
