Ash

Ash was found in a burned down building on Staten Island. Her rescuers knew something was not right with the poor kitten, and immediately brought her to a vet for evaluation.

After further investigation, it was determined that both of Ash’s hips and knees were completely dislocated, likely due to a congenital condition and thankfully not the result of trauma. While she was able to walk and crawl around to an extent, she couldn’t run and jump like a normal kitten.

A local veterinary surgeon took on an intensive corrective surgery to give her a chance to live a normal, pain-free life. Ash went directly into foster for six weeks of recovery, including specialized physical therapy to help her learn how to use the leg normally.

Ash is now HOME and scooting around with the help of her corrected leg, her feline brother, and her adopters—who adore this little girl! "Ash has settled beautifully into her new life at the beach, trading the soot of a burned out building in Staten Island for the salt and sun in California. Despite being born with congenital hip and knee issues, Ash is strong, brave, endlessly curious, and shockingly fast—especially when she’s chasing her feline brother, Scooter!"
