"I wanted to share our success story with our brave and beautiful Georgie (now Miski) and reiterate how grateful we are to the whole team at Animal Haven for their warmth and professionalism throughout the adoption process.
When we met Miski (short for Miss Kitty) last summer, she had a cast on her back leg and was trying to rub her face on our hands. She was the first cat Animal Haven showed me, and I immediately fell in love when she tried to climb onto my shoulder, purring like a motorboat. I was crestfallen when the vet told us that she had nerve damage to her leg, and it would likely have to be amputated, but we were determined to make it work. Miraculously, Miski's leg began healing, and, by our next visit, the vet told us there was a chance that it would recover on its own. By the time we adopted her, it seemed likely that she would be able to keep the leg!
Miski is bright, curious, and above all, brave...sometimes to the point of recklessness. When we brought her home, it became clear that her boldness may have contributed to her leg injury. She loved to run around, climb on counters, and investigate every nook and cranny despite her still-healing leg. She was immediately curious about our senior cat, Leo, whom intended Miski to be a companion for. While it took some time for them to get used to each other, the two now share a sweet sibling bond with Leo grooming Miski every day after her daily nap while Miski attempts to pull him into a wrestling match.
A few months after the adoption, we noticed that Miski was having trouble with her bad leg. An X-ray revealed that she had a fracture in her leg and would require surgery. Luckily, the folks at Animal Surgical Center were able to repair the joint promptly. Miski made a full recovery and today, is faster on all four legs than any indoor cat has the right to be. She is a happy cat who purrs all the time and loves to snuggle with her mom and dad. She LOVES to play and has a box overflowing with toys, but prefers to chase around a spring in the bathtub, doing all sorts of parkour stunts like she's Super Mario. Miski is also a superb huntress and, unlike her gentle brother, fiercely defends the apartment against vermin.
We love Miski so much and couldn't imagine life without her. She is a firecracker of a kitty, and her antics make us laugh every day. We're so happy to have her join the family. Thank you everyone at Animal Haven who made this possible!"
