Foster-to-Adopt Candidate
Not Good with Dogs
Daphne was adopted as a tiny kitten here at Animal Haven, but sadly returned as an adult when her owner was no longer able to care for a pet financially. We always take our animals back no matter what, so of course we welcomed Daphne back when she found herself in need. Having been in a home most of her life, coming back to the shelter was hard for her as an adult cat set in her ways.
We admit that Daphne doesn't put her best paw forward at the shelter, but she truly shines in the comfort and quiet of a home environment. Earning her trust doesn't take much time, but she's been having trouble making the immediate connection that some potential adopters seek.
She's sassy and opinionated - as many cats can be - but very affectionate once she feels safe and comfortable. Daphne wants to be your queen, and likely would do best as the only animal in the household - she will simply not share your attention with other pets!
As one of our longer residents, she has been in a foster home where she has done very well. Here's what her foster had to say:
"Daphne is such a special little lady. She is incredibly curious, playful, and silly. She loves to scratch her scratcher, torment her favorite stress ball, stalk her wand toy, and nap in any sunny spot my apartment affords. She is low maintenance, but loves affection and attention - until she doesn't. She is vocal about her boundaries, and isn't shy about telling you she's had enough love. Even if she acts too cool for school, she is much happier when she knows you're home and within reach to scratch her tiny chin. Her purr is absolutely infectious, and she is not shy with headbutts."
We know you're taking a chance on this sassy lady, so Daphne is one of our foster-to-adopt candidates. We hope once she settles in your home short-term, she'll show you exactly how lovely she can be! Adopt Daphne!
