Our Adoption Process
Here's everything you need to know about adopting your new best buddy.
Step 1: Visit Us
Our process starts in-person! Visit us during adoption hours to meet our adoptable animals.
If you'd like more information about an animal before you visit, please fill out our Adoption Interest Survey. This is not an application and is not a requirement to meet our animals.
Interested in adopting a dog?
We recommend bringing documentation to your visit stating that you are allowed to have a pet where you live such as a lease, letter from a landlord, or proof of home ownership. This will expedite the application process.
Step 2: Apply
After meeting animals at our facility, we'll provide you with an Adoption Application to fill out and submit during your visit.
Please note, applications for cats are often processed within 24 hours. However, applications for dogs may take a few days.
Adoption Requirements
-
You must be 21 years of age or older to adopt.
-
If you currently or previously had a pet, a vet reference will be required.
-
Adopters will be required to show proof that pets are allowed. This can be provided in the form of a lease, phone number of a leasing office, landlord, super, or property website.
-
The majority of the household must meet the animal you are interested in at the shelter. All children in the household must meet the animal!
-
Current dogs of the household must also meet the dog you are applying for – this is scheduled by our team as the last step of the process.
-
We ask for a personal reference (this can be a family member, friend, employer) who can attest to your ability to care for a pet.
The Selection Process
We take multiple applications on all of our animals in an effort to find the best possible fit in a timely manner. If the animal you are interested in is adopted before you can complete the process, we are happy to work with you to find another potential match.
Please note: meeting the animal does not guarantee approval of adoption.
