Winchester is a gentle, resilient soul. She came to Animal Haven after spending years being cared for outdoors by someone living upstate, who believed she and her colony mates were too feral to ever adjust to indoor life. Since arriving here, Winchester has proven that she’s actually a sweet gal who loves human attention once she knows she can trust you.
Out of the group, Winchester is the most reserved, which is expected considering she was found with only one eye. Even so, she has shown us a sweet and affectionate side once she feels safe. Winchester enjoys attention, appreciates treats, and has slowly begun seeking out affection and interaction from people she trusts.
Winchester is also FIV+, which means she has a weakened immune system. Many FIV+ cats live long, healthy, normal lives and can safely coexist with other friendly cats. Unfortunately, the label alone often causes wonderful cats like Winchester to be overlooked.
She may need a little extra patience while settling into a home, but Winchester is a reminder that even cats who have spent years surviving outdoors are capable of forming deep connections and enjoying the comfort of indoor life. She deserves a calm, understanding home where she can continue to heal, relax, and finally enjoy the peace she’s spent so long without.
