Clarice is the kind of cat who may have you thinking, “Okay, I’m going to have to work for this one.” And honestly? You are. But that’s part of what makes getting to know her so rewarding.
Clarice was adopted from Animal Haven and later returned through no fault of her own. Since returning, she’s had a hard time adjusting to the shelter life. The noise, activity, and constant changes around her can leave her feeling overstimulated, so she sometimes puts up a pretty impressive exterior. At first, she may come across as aloof, unapproachable, or even a little bit like she’s silently judging you. We promise, she’s not as intimidating as she looks.
Underneath that tough exterior is a very sweet girl who just needs time to decide that you’re worth letting in. Clarice responds beautifully to patience, consistency, and– perhaps most important– treats. Before long, you’ll start seeing little glimpses of the softer, sweeter side of her personality.
We know that Clarice’s shelter persona isn’t quite the same as the cat she’ll be once she’s comfortable in a home. For the right person, those first cautious steps toward trust will make every purr, treat request, and slow blink feel that much more special.
If you’re willing to take your time, get past the resting judgemental face, and let Clarice show you who she really is, we think you’ll find a pretty wonderful girl underneath it all.
