Betsie has survived unimaginable neglect and is now ready to start the next chapter in her life - finding a home!
This sweet goldendoodle was found abandoned in a Brooklyn hallway, painfully matted and dangerously underweight. After undergoing emergency surgery to amputate her severely injured tail, she is starting her weight gain journey to reach a healthy weight.
Right now, she's on a strict feeding schedule 4 times a day to ensure she gains weight safely and steadily. She is temporarily on prescription food for increased nourishment.
Her soulful eyes and gentle nature make her easy to fall in love with. Betsie thrives in the presence of people and forms strong bonds quickly. She can get anxious when left alone, which we don't blame her for after years of neglect, this is likely the most attention she's received in her lifetime.
She’s looking for a home where someone is around most of the day - at least in the beginning - or committed to helping her build confidence and independence with time and patience. It may take a little while for her to settle into a routine and realize she won't be abandoned again.
After surviving so much, Betsie is ready to know what it means to be safe, wanted, and home. If you’ve been waiting for a deeply loving dog who will cherish you as much as you cherish her, Betsie is waiting to meet you. She gets along well with other dogs and has a very sweet temperament overall.
Come visit her at Animal Haven!
