Can we hear it for our mom of the year?!
Evie has been hard at work the last couple of months raising her eight adorable puppies. In that time, she’s been attentive, sweet, and gentle with her babies and her human helpers. (Raising puppies is a LOT of work!)
The truth is, Evie should have never had these puppies. Instead of spending her life in a loving home, she arrived at Animal Haven late last year with a body full of scars and a heavily pregnant belly. The scars on her face—some red and raw—and across her body told a story of abuse. We will never know if her pregnancy was intentional or accidental, but we know it should never have happened. Evie went into labor shortly after arriving and thankfully had an uncomplicated birth.
Now, she is ready to start the next chapter in her story—one that will be filled with love, kindness, and compassion. Evie will be spayed once her milk is fully dried up, but she can go home as soon as someone falls in love with her (Animal Haven will cover her spay, of course)!
Evie has been a bit sheltered in her time with us given her pregnancy, but she has been tremendously sweet with everyone she’s met. She has been a little nervous around other dogs, but that’s not uncommon for nursing moms, who can feel protective of their pups. If you have any questions about Evie and whether she’d be a good fit for your life, we’d love to introduce you. Adopt Evie!
