We'd like to introduce you to a very special puppy, Rory. She's a gentle pup, and although she can't fully stand on her own, she has a wagging tail that just won't quit! Rory's journey began in an overcrowded municipal shelter in Miami, where she faced an uncertain future.
When Rory was rescued, she was unable to fully extend or bear weight on one of her front legs. Initially, it was believed that Rory was suffering from multiple fractures but further tests showed that this was not the case. When detailed X-rays were taken, they revealed that her leg was not fractured and she is likely suffering from severe nerve damage. It's still unclear whether this damage resulted from a tear, overstretching, or trauma, but we are determined to help Rory on her path to recovery so she can stand tall again.
Rory is awaiting a full evaluation from our veterinary team, and while we expect her future may have some challenges, we are optimistic. Thankfully, Rory doesn't seem to be in any pain or discomfort. Once a plan is in place, she will start weekly physical therapy sessions to help strengthen her muscles and give her the best chance at a normal future. We still must remain realistic and in the event that there's no improvement after around three months, amputation may be considered as a last resort.
Rory may have faced some early challenges, but Animal Haven will be with her every step of the way. She's ready and waiting for her future family and is available for adoption right now! For potential adopters willing to bring her to her future sessions and appointments, Animal Haven will be covering the costs.
Rory is a sweet, mild-mannered pup and incredibly gentle. She adores people, gets along with other dogs (big, small, or senior - she's SO respectful!), and we guess she would do well even in a home with children.
Come meet Rory at Animal Haven, you're sure to fall in love!
