Our Adoption Process

We're thrilled you’re interested in learning more about adopting with us! We look forward to supporting you through each step of this process.

Here's everything you need to know about adopting your new best buddy.

Step 1: Visit

We encourage you to come visit us during walk-in hours or by scheduling an appointment to meet our adoptable animals.

Adoption Interest Survey

If you'd like more information about an animal before you visit, please fill out our Adoption Interest Survey.

Due to the volume of inquiries we receive, please allow 1-3 business days for us to reply.

Interested in adopting a dog?

If you plan to adopt a dog, we recommend bringing documentation to your visit stating that you are allowed to have a pet where you live such as a lease, letter from a landlord, or proof of home ownership. This will expedite the application process.

Step 2: Apply

After meeting animals at our facility, we'll provide you with an Adoption Application to fill out and submit during your visit.

Please note, applications for cats are often processed within 24 hours. However, applications for dogs may take a few days.

Adoption Requirements
  • You must be 21 years of age or older to adopt.
  • If you currently or previously had a pet, a vet reference will be required.
  • Current dogs of the household must also meet the dog you are applying for – but this is scheduled by our team as the last step of the process.
  • Every member of a household must meet our animals in-person at the shelter prior to adopting – we cannot accommodate digital appointments.
  • We ask for a personal reference (this can be a family member, friend, employer) who can attest to your ability to care for a pet.
  • Adopters will be required to show proof that pets are allowed. This can be provided in the form of a lease, phone number of a leasing office, landlord, super, or property website.

The Selection Process

It may take more than one meet and greet to approve your application, especially with some of our higher-needs dogs. We ask that every member of a household meet the animal during this process.

However, please note: meeting the animal does not guarantee approval of adoption.

We take multiple applications on all of our animals in an effort to find the best possible fit in a timely manner. If the animal you are interested in is adopted before you can complete the process, we are happy to work with you to find another potential match.
