In Foster Care
Things to know:
Special Diet
Leonard is a resilient 13-year old gentleman with a story that spans years of life on the streets of Queens. For most of his life, he lived between backyards and porches, cared for by kind neighbors who made sure he was fed and looked after. When he began to lose weight and show signs that something wasn’t quite right, he was brought to Animal Haven so he could finally receive the care he deserved.
Despite spending so many years as an outdoor stray, Leonard arrived in remarkably good shape. Since then, we’ve learned that he does have some ongoing health concerns, though not all are fully clear. What is clear IS how much he has thrived in a home environment. Leonard has been living in a foster home with a staff member, and it’s been nothing short of a second chapter for him—one filled with comfort, consistency, and love.
It can take Leonard a little time to get to know new people, but once he does, his personality truly shines. He becomes the quiet king of the home—content, confident, and full of charm. He has the sweetest quirks, like climbing onto your chest to demand pets, giving gentle “love nips” when he’s especially happy, and happily enjoying a bite of scrambled eggs. He’s incredibly observant and seems to take in everything around him with a calm, nonjudgemental presence.
Leonard is respectful and easygoing with other animals, showing patience and understanding with both cats and dogs. He doesn’t ask for much besides a comfortable space, a kind person, and the chance to continue enjoying the indoor life he’s clearly come to love.
For someone looking to give a truly special senior cat the best possible next chapter, Leonard is an incredibly rewarding companion. After a lifetime of independence, he’s ready to spend his days simply being at peace, in the comfort of a home.
