In Foster Care
Sweet Frank was found wandering on his own outside of a Dollar General in Georgia. The shelter he was brought to was overcapacity, like so many others, and his transfer request was a plea for help - one we couldn't ignore. He was not chipped and if no one came forward when his stray hold was up, he would be euthanized for space. Shelters in the south are so overrun with dogs and cats right now, they are having to euthanize for time and space. We aren't just talking about senior dogs like Sweet Frank, even friendly, adoptable dogs, that end up in the shelter system are at risk. As a senior stray, he did have a few things going on with him when he first arrived but we've been working through it all. He came to us pretty emaciated but he has put on a few pounds and is looking and feeling better than ever! He is on eye meds for an ulcer and a cherry eye that can be corrected with a future surgery (covered by his adoption fee). He had an ear infection and skin infection that we've treated and have been healing well. His hips are luxated so he will likely need surgery in the future and is on a supplement to help in the meantime. We know, it's a lot, but trust us when we say he's worth it. Sweet Frank is the epitome of a good boy. He gets along with dogs, cats, people... Heck, he's the type of dog to make friends with a butterfly. He's clearly no stranger to a home and settled right in with his foster family which include 2 cats and another dog. He is your typical sweet natured and forgiving beagle who loves to be right by your side. Come give Sweet Frank a chance, meet him at Animal Haven!
