Red

Rescued from the streets of NYC by a dedicated TNR group, it's no wonder that Red was one of the shyest cats at Animal Haven. It's also no surprise that Red, now named Charlie, caught the eye of one of our cattery volunteers...and soon found his new home! Charlie is now a playful, silly cat—his adopters shared the following:

"These last few days, when I see Charlie running around and playing with his toys, I frequently ask myself, 'what happened to this shy boy?!'

A few months ago I had met Red (now Charlie) when volunteering at the shelter. He was very gentle and sweet but also shy and had an air of sadness around him. Some days he did not want to come out of his cubby and he showed no interest in playing. As he was not very outgoing and had some dietary restrictions, Charlie was often overlooked by potential adopters.

After some time, I was convinced that Charlie was meant to go home with my husband, our orange cat Beto, and I. We took the leap of faith and it was clear that we should have done that way sooner! After some adjustment and patience, Charlie started to thrive just by being in a home. He now plays all the time, loves his toys and looks genuinely happy and at peace. Charlie is getting more confident day by day, he actively seeks our companionship and affection, and he shows no shame at taking over the whole couch or bed!

The fun part is seeing his silly orange-ness come out day by day! We could not be happier to share our home with these two orange boys and I encourage adopters to give a chance to the shy kitties out there, as they are absolutely worth it!"
