Humphrey

Humphrey is HOME!

1,048 days. That's how long Humphrey spent with us, waiting for a home of his own. He arrived at Animal Haven in 2021 from a crowded municipal shelter in Kentucky. This big, goofy coonhound quickly won over our staff with his friendly nature, floppy ears, and signature bay. While Humphrey tolerated city life, we knew he would do best in a home outside the city: His coonhound roots made him a big-time sniffer and he THRIVED when we took him on country outings as part of our CampUnderdog program.

During his time with us, we did everything we could to make Humphrey's life as comfortable as possible. He's one of the dogs that inspired our team to start our Underdog program, which gives long-stay dogs opportunities to go on a hike, stay overnight at a farm, or enjoy our new training and enrichment space. His legacy will live on for so many other dogs at Animal Haven, for years to come.

Humphrey's new mom is quite smitten with him, and he even has a new brother, Nunzio. His adopter shares, "He is sweet as sugar. I am hopeful that one day I will get a kiss from him! I am doing my best to make him comfortable and for the most part he is. He sleeps right next to me in bed every night and not a day goes by that I don’t get whacked with that gigantic paw for not paying enough attention to him (even when I am literally petting him). He is such an amazing dog and so gentle/patient with Nunzio. I am grateful every day that I found him. I love him so much and I want to give him everything he needs."
