"Janice (now named Melon) is thriving. Although she started off as a pretty independent pup, she’s becoming more and more snuggly every day. It’s the best feeling in the world to wake up to her tail wagging like crazy every morning or see that huge smile she gives us when we take her outside to play. She’s gone from a tiny fluffy ball to the cutest little “bagel” who curls up on our couch like she owns the place. We can’t believe how much joy she brings into our lives. She has been healing us inside out in ways we didn’t even expect. We always say we’re growing up with her. Melon is playful, curious about absolutely everything, and full of confidence when it comes to exploring the world. And she is so smart. She solved all five of her puzzles like a pro, and she picks up new tricks so quickly. Honestly, we barely touch our electronic devices at home anymore besides work, because she’s just too fun and goofy to look away from. She fills our days with so much laughter.
As first-time puppy parents, we were total newbies and definitely had moments of tears, stress, and “what are we even doing?”, but the happiness has far, far outweighed it all. Every challenge came from wanting Melon to feel safe, understood, and confident in this big human world, and learning how to support her shaped us as much as it shaped her. We’re endlessly grateful to Animal Haven for giving us the chance to have her in our lives."
